Social work field education programs have experienced changes throughout time, including adaptations to supervision of students in field education settings. Monitoring and developing field education supervision is an essential component of ensuring high-quality practicum experiences and satisfaction among both social work students and field instructors. Most recently, the COVID-19 global pandemic led most social work students and field instructors to a rapid shift in practicum placements from in-person to virtual learning; within the process, supervision changed as well. This study includes feedback from a small group of BSW students, MSW students, and field instructors regarding this transition in placement and supervision. The study’s framework investigated the modalities of supervision used, as well as perceptions of the quality of supervision, both before and after the adjustments resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Supervision approaches used were developmental, didactic, strengths-based, and trauma-focused. Research findings will be used to enhance BSW and MSW field education within this specific Midwestern university and will aim to provide considerations and recommendations for the development of field education programs in other social work education programs.

Much is written about group supervision in other health care fields; however less attention is paid to this topic in social work. This lack of scholarly attention became obvious to the author when he attempted to begin supervising students in groups and was unable to reference a suitable model or template of group supervision from which to gain ideas or direction. The author therefore decided to develop his own model of group supervision. The following article gives an account of how the author developed this model by critically appraising the relevant policy and theory from a local and national perspective to inform his practice.

Teaching is, to date, one of the most prone jobs to experiencing occupational stress and burnout. Owing to burnout’s negative personal, social, organizational and economic impacts, researchers, practitioners and education policy leaders are interested in developing practices and interventions aimed at preventing/reducing its prevalence. With teachers’ main professional demands to be of a social and emotional nature, interventions designed with a view to promote teachers’ social and emotional competence appears to be particularly promising, positively impacting teachers’ well-being and personal accomplishment and contributing to a decrease in their psychological distress, namely emotional exhaustion. However, theoretical and empirically grounded interventions with ecological validity and specifically targeting teachers are still scarce. Thus, to bridge the previously identified gaps, the present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and the quality of the intervention’s implementation of the A+ , an online social and emotional learning intervention for elementary-school teachers. A quasi-experimental study was conducted with a total of 81 participants (96.3% female, M Age = 46.21, SD Age = 4.82, n = 42 assigned to the experimental group) from three different school contexts. School clusters were similar in size, organizational structure and socioeconomic level, and as regards previous attendance at social and emotional learning interventions; however, they differed with regards to perceived organizational climate. Data on the efficacy of the A+ was collected across four waves using a set of self-report questionnaires that assessed proximal variables (i.e., social and emotional skills) and distal variables (e.g., well-being, burnout symptoms), and analyzed through Robust Linear Mixed-Effects Models. Coefficient omegas suggested adequate reliability of the measures. Additionally, two trained observers completed an observation grid to evaluate the quality of the A+ implementation (e.g., participant responsiveness, fidelity), with excellent inter-rater reliability. Results suggested that, over time, the A+ had positive impacts across proximal (e.g., increased self-regulation, positive relationship, conflict management skills) and distal variables (e.g., increased emotional well-being, decreased occupational stress and emotional exhaustion symptoms) favoring the experimental group. However, results differed across the school contexts. These findings were accompanied by good implementation quality indicators, namely high fidelity in the delivery of the A+ contents and high participants’ responsiveness. Despite its limitations, this study contributes to a growing body of research which reinforces the importance of investing in social and emotional learning interventions to prevent teachers’ burnout and improve their occupational health. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of implementation quality research as a component of program planning with a view to enhancing programs’ efficacy, as well as the need to adapt and consider context variables in research and practice.

However, the emerging requirements in industrial operating environments necessitate a more personal configuration of competencies facilitating both intrapersonal and interpersonal processes at workplace. PURPOSE: One important objective of chiropractic education is to foster student professional confidence and competence in patient communication and clinical skills. Therefore, the aim of this article is to review the extant literature on this topic, stressing the significance of building students' confidence for effective practice and the need for more research in this area. METHODS: The authors reviewed MEDLINE and ERIC from 1980 through 2008 using several key words pertinent to confidence and health care. Three distinct, but interrelated, bodies of literature were assessed, including professional confidence in health care research, the nature and development of confidence in educational psychology research, and fostering professional confidence in chiropractic education. RESULTS: It was apparent through the review that chiropractic education has developed educational methods and opportunities that may help develop and build student confidence in patient communication and clinical skills. However, there has not been sufficient research to provide empirical evidence of the impact. CONCLUSION: Fostering chiropractic students' development of confidence in what they say and do is of paramount importance not only to them as new practitioners but more importantly to the patient. There is no doubt that a better understanding of how confidence can be developed and consolidated during tertiary study should be a major goal of chiropractic education.

For the past 14 years the Social Ecological Responsibility in Science and Engineering Education (SERSEE) Network has discussed the challenging but necessary task of teaching social and ecological responsibility to science and engineering students. Identifying, sharing and developing best practices, pedagogical materials and tools as well as a strategy for promoting it at universities can aid and promote this endeavour. This paper presents the central concepts and pedagogical methods that have emerged during the informal network’s meetings, and compares these concepts and methods to trends in the research literature.

Aim/Purpose: The study aimed to investigate the influence of technology support, social support, academic support, and service support on student satisfaction and their relationships in private and state universities. Background: Coherent support between students, teachers, and management is usually extended beyond classroom scheduling and space. This support has a positive significant influence on student satisfaction, which may influence students’ academic, behavioral, emotional and social development. This support is assisted via technology, social, academic, and instant service support, which may have an impact on its nature. Methodology: In the current study, a cross-sectional survey was used to collect the research data. Convenience sampling was used to select the participants for the study. It targeted a population sampled from engineering students from both private and state universities of central India (n=240). In quantitative data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS. Contribution: The present study expands the growing body of knowledge about student satisfaction via technology, social, academic, and service support. We identify the unique aspects of factors that are positively related to student satisfaction, which shed light on student satisfaction. Findings from this study may assist educators (while in training and/or professional development programs) to reflect upon their educational strategies to enhance the level of satisfaction among the students and to check how their students can benefit from the support system in the institution. Findings: The results indicated that the institutional support dimensions –technology support, academic support, social support, and service support –are positively significantly related to student satisfaction in both state and private universities. Recommendations for Practitioners: As a result of the study, it is recommended to university policymakers and administrations to provide and emphasize the importance of institutional support. In addition, it is recommended to provide students with knowledge that focuses on technology, academic, social, and other related service support. Doing so can provide valuable insight into students’ level of satisfaction enhancement with institutional support. Recommendation for Researchers: As a result of the study, it is recommended to university policymakers and administrations to provide and emphasize the importance of institutional support. Changes in the US Healthcare System along with the need for institutions of higher education to prepare a work force ready to address the challenges of today and tomorrow have highlighted the need to incorporate technology in its broadest sense as part of the student learning experience. In health professional education, this becomes challenging as programs have traditionally relied on face-to-face instruction along with internship experiences which provide hands on patient care. In addition, learning activities that incorporate higher order critical thinking must be incorporated in order to meet competency based professional expectations as well as expectations in the work place environment. This article will address current technology use in health professional education programs and identify opportunities to incorporate technology to enhance the student learning experiences with emphasis on the critical thinking, communication, and psychomotor skills required of today’s health professional graduate.

In this qualitative study, Brown’s (2004) tripartite theoretical framework on leadership preparation was used to explore the role programmatic elements played in development as social justice leaders within an educational leadership preparation program located in the United States. Findings from focus groups with twelve former graduate students revealed a number of programmatic elements were important in developing students’ conceptions of social justice. The findings also suggest two main differences existed between White and participants of colour in the study. The first involved an affective response to programmatic elements and the second on continued leadership efforts to address inequities in schools.

The purposes of this study were to see how social media use by undergraduate students affects their academics as well as their social life in college. Participants consisted of undergraduate students at Rowan University aged 18 and older (n=116). In order to obtain data on this topic, students were asked to participate via online survey. Students expressed what types of social media they use, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and SnapChat. They were also asked how much time they spend on social media, their current GPA (grade point average) and whether their GPA has increased or decreased due to the amount of time they spend using social media. Data was analyzed using SPSS.
